"Margo Mead's recent figurative works in watercolor and crayon on rice paper revolve around classically simplified figures with a powerful presence in symbolic settings, as seen in "Global Warm-Up," where the earth takes on the appearance of a shrinking swimming pool beset by a huge sun-flash. There are strong messages in Mead's pictures, but she presents them with a wit and formal appeal that transcends the aesthetic limitations of most social realism."
