Artist Statement
Art is essential for my life. Influenced by extensive study of Western and Asian art. Using oil crayon, black ink, and watercolor on rice paper or acrylic on canvas, I explore the human figure as a protagonist. Presently the theme is Global Warming. The media is acrylic, oil crayon and graphite on canvas. These paintings are imaginary landscapes of our universe. The paintings’ grid represents the ecosystems of Earth. Disturbing any one square disrupts the delicate balance of the whole. This subtle coordination of interdependent parts has made possible our existence. Earth is presently teetering; my work calls out for your attention. Linear figures superimposed on a grid signify the fragility of our existence. I am poised between realism and abstraction through the balance of color, form, dimension and line. I bring my experiences to a creative unity by gifting myself the freedom to speak by virtue of my work. The errors of past civilizations could serve as a reminder for our planet's existence; however political and religious powers often override scientific reality.
